At Character Street Tokyo Station, you just might see your shopping budget go up in a cloud of cute, character shaped smoke. And that’s ok, because OMG KAWAII!

This specialty street, located in the basement of one of Japan’s largest and busiest train hubs, houses over 25 shops from top Japanese toy brands, anime studios and TV networks. In other words, it’s been nice knowing you, money.

Pokemon plush toys? Check. Makeup and accessories in sexy Sailormoon packaging? Check. Impossibly cute snacks and edible souvenirs? Check. We spent a good couple of hours browsing through all of the neat stuff on display here, and we wished it wouldn’t end!

From Totoro to Tokyo Banana, chances are, you’ll find your favorite character here. So what did we get? We picked up a few PomPomPurin luggage tags from the capsule toy vending machine in the Hello Kitty shop, and some merch from our favorite NHK short animation series Biju Tunes.

Naruto and One Piece fans can hop by the Jump Shop, while those who love their characters kawaii can pop into the Rilakkuma and Hello Kitty shops. Character Street’s convenient location is great if you need to squeeze in some last minute shopping before heading home.

This is definitely the place to go if you ever find yourself near Tokyo Station with a kawaii itch to scratch!

WOW

“Done shopping? There’s a Kitchen Street right next to the Character Street with lots of yummy stuff for your hungry tummy!”
